HISTORY
Harry Grundman opened the Grundman Insurance Agency in 1959 at 721 Davis Avenue, in Corning. Also domiciled at that location was Adams Mutual Insurance Association, a county mutual insurance company dating back to 1884. Harry was agency owner and secretary manager of Adams Mutual Insurance Association. He kept those titles until his retirement in 1994. Harry also had deep roots in Adams County, not only in insurance but also as a farmer and former president of the National Farmers Organization. He and his wife Enid raised five children, all of whom, at one time or another, cleaned the office two times a week at 721 Davis Avenue.
In 1978 Mike Grundman, son of Harry, started working at the Grundman Insurance Agency after 5 years as a teacher in Griswold, Iowa. Mike also became the agency owner and secretary manager of Adams Mutual. He maintained those titles until his retirement at the end of 2015. Mike also had roots in the community. He was a long-time president of the Adams Community Development Corporation, a Rotarian, a leader in the Methodist Church and many other leadership roles. Mike and his wife, Becky, raised two sons in Corning, both of whom cleaned the office at 721 Davis Avenue until graduating from Corning High School.
In 2004 Adam Grundman, son of Mike, started working at the Grundman Insurance Agency and Adams Mutual, after a tour in Iraq with the US Army. Adam remains at Grundman Insurance to this day. However, Adams Mutual has merged and is now part of what makes up Legacy Mutual Insurance Association, and Adam serves as Vice President. Adam’s community ties include the French Icarian Colony, the Chamber of Commerce and an active leader in the Methodist Church. He and his wife, Nantawan, live in Corning and have two sons of their own.
